Calories in Alcohol Drinks

For a 3.5 ounce glass of wine, which is what many consider "one glass", the alcohol provides around 80 calories. Keep in mind, that’s a small wine glass. If you are one of those wine enthusiasts who’s wine glass is as large as a small fish bowl and the whole bottle of wine practically pours into your glass, you should re-evaluate what "one glass" of wine really is.

On the average, a 12 oz. can of beer is about is about 140 calories (light beer is less of course), and a 2.5 oz. shot of rum, vodka, etc. is about 110 calories. One benefit of the distilled liquor is you don’t get any carbohydrates like in Wine and Beer. But, wine has more heart healthy components to it, especially red wine.

Mixed drinks are even higher in calories because they involve multiple shots, sugary ingrediants, creams, and fruits.

So drink moderately and responsibly and repeat after me: Ziggy Zaggy, Ziggy Zaggy, Oi, Oi, Oi"!
